Since 1.5.2004 Slovakia is a Member of the European Union.
On 16./17. of May 2003 about 90% of the voters accepted the Referendum of
the entry into the EU.

Slowakei-Net.de is a Website, which picks Slovakia out as a central theme. The
name of the country appears in different variations. Slovak Republic is
the official name of Slovakia (short form). In national language it is Slovensko.
A lot of people mix up Slovakia with Slovenia (which is a quondam part of
former Yugoslavia).

Still interesting
In Bratislava the bypass highway, near airport Stefanik is ready. If you
use checkpoint Kittsee-Jarovce you will come directly to the highway. Only in
the suburb Petržalka you have two or three traffic lights on Einsteinova ulica
(street, ca. 1.3 km). The rest of the bypass is highway.
In the region Spiš the highway tunnel below the Branisko pass is opened.
